A long-time Cambridge resident, Carla Johnson is an educator, author, piano player, enthusiastic community volunteer and inspiring public speaker.
Carla believes community spirit is the heart of a good society. As a Trustee for the Waterloo Region District School Board, she loves visiting schools and meeting with families to help be a stronger voice for our vital public education system.
In the spring of 2020, she launched CMH Lunch Is On Us, an initiative that fed hospital workers 3,000 free lunches during the early crisis of COVID-19. She worked on several other community initiatives and more recently she served on the committee for the Cambridge Poppy Project, a collection of art installations using over 33,000 hand-knit and ,crocheted poppies to honour our veterans.
Passionate about embracing everyone in the community, Carla was a charismatic, middle school teacher. Having worked with hundreds of students across the region, she remains close to many today.
Carla self-published two books and was the V.P. of Corporate Affairs for the Bravo Group in Mississauga supporting start-up businesses across the province.
An accomplished singer and piano player, Carla has also studied photography, painting and pottery.
Carla and her husband Steven raised their child here in Cambridge and she has built strong connections across the many parts of our city. An engaged listener and a confident advocate, Carla is a caring bridge builder who is dedicated to serving her community.
